Crypto scam experience. Telegram scammers and impersonators getting creative AVOID

Yesterday I had another Telegram scam experience. It happens quite often but this time I do think the scammers stepped up when it comes to their strategy and disguise. They impersonated someone I already knew and had worked with previously. And, what originally looked like a message from a colleague requesting my help… was soon realized to be an attempted to steal Bitcoin from me. Luckily not a succesfull attempt on the scammer side.

In hopes to bring awareness to the scams and the scammers we encounter daily on Telegram I share with you guys the content of our conversation and few tips that may help you avoid them.

Please note that during the beginning of the conversation I was not aware I was chatting with a scammer. I went along thinking he was a colleague until the money request. Once he requested the help, or better BTC, I immediately checked his profile and did a profile search for Jose. I did encounter 2 profiles and noticed two sets of conversations.

Once I recognize there was two accounts and differentiated the two, I knew I was chatting with a scammer. I played with him, got more info regarding his request. After that, I made him understand that I was not a pray. But, unfortunately had to stop the conversation where it ended knowing that he will be trying the same trick on somebody else.

For that reason decided to write this article to alert new users of this technology, to be careful. To not act fast and on instinct on any call for crypto or cash. The majority of us are just good people and sometimes we do not hesitate to help a dear friend, family member or a person in need. This occurred on Telegram but you will find scammers wherever you can be reached.

After waiting for a reply for another hour or so I blocked his profile. Guess he did not want to waist any more of his precious thief time. My only hope is that I can prevent him and people like him from being successful one good person at a time.

If this ever happen to you, either by message, by phone call, by letter. Stop breath and take your time to verify the information. If it is asked with “URGENCY” there is a very good chance an impresonator is trying to use your emotions to deceive you. Validation is the key because once the transaction is completed there is only regret left.
