Are you looking for extra income for one reason or another? I certainly always am. And for a change I decided to try a variety of delivery services and see what type of income this services offer. I will start today reviewing Instacart and describing few of the advantages and disadvantages of the job.

What is Instacart? It is a grocery delivery service. Clients order from their regular groceries stores and instacart shoppers, who are independent contractors, select, shop and deliver the order. It is similar to Uber and Door Dash but for groceries instead. All done using a app in your phone. And the app is quite simple and intuitive.

Before we do so I will share with you few screen shots of my recent runs, so you can see what type of income can be made from the app. Of course statistics will vary according to the area you are located and how many hours you are available. The pictures below cannot be used as a guide for earnings. People just may also under or over perform me as well. And some clients still prefer tipping cash, and that is not included in the pictures below.

Positions Available at Instacart:

Full Service Shopper Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid U.S. Drivers license and auto insurance
  • A reliable vehicle
  • Insulated cooler bags
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Iphone (iOS 10 or newer) or Android (5.1 or newer) smartphone

In-store Shopper Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Iphone (iOS 10 or newer) or Android (5.1 or newer) smartphone

Pros of Instacart:

  • A flexible way to make money
  • Independent contractor / No boss
  • Recently implemented fast pay so payment can be received a day after delivery is completed (o utside of tips)
  • You can choose different zones
  • Less time in the car and more time shopping
  • I get familiar with supermarket and get faster over time

Cons of Instacart

  • Some territories are just slow so orders do not come in as often
  • Schedule is done in advance and to access better hours you must have experience and maintain a great status
  • Participating supermarkets not always offer wi-fi and signal can be blocked in large supermarket warehouses and in certain areas. Offering Wi-fi in all locations would certainly make the job a lot easier to maintain service
  • Incident report is not completely accurate
  • During busy peak hours it can take a while to reach costumer service

The best thing for me was the fact that I could do it on my own, at my free time and without having to report to anyone other than the clients themselves. It is an opportunity for me to get out of the house and interact with people too. As a blogger, columnist, and crypto enthusiast I am often at home, sitting down in front of my computer and what a fun way for me to get out, make a little extra money and capture some daylight.

If you are interested in joining in and receiving a bonus once you complete a certain amount of runs just make sure to click on this Instacart link. I also receive a little credit when you do so. Bonuses are based on the area you sign up for and are not guaranteed in all the areas.
